The nearby train station provides a fast link with the central Puerta del Sol while Cuzco metro station is just 2 minutes' walk from the school.
The City
There are many reasons why OISE chose to locate our intensive Spanish programmes in Madrid. It is a leading cultural centre with some of the greatest art museums in the world, such as the Prado and the Thyssen. It is a major sporting centre with world class football at Real Madrid as well excellent golf and tennis facilities and even skiing in the nearby Sierra De Guadarrama. It has some of the finest restaurants in Europe as well as a nightlife which is unequalled anywhere.
However, the key reason why we believe our Spanish courses are best located in Madrid is that it is a quintessentially Spanish city. English has not taken over here as it has on the Mediterranean coast, nor is Spanish rivalled by regional languages, as occurs in many parts of Spain. Throughout their stay, students are immersed in the language they are studying on their intensive Spanish course at OISE Madrid.
The lessons
The Tutorial lesson - the teaching tradition of Oxford University - is one of the most effective methods of language learning. The programme is based entirely on individual lessons. This means that the tutor's attention is focused on one student, and allows for a perfect match between the lesson content and the learning requirements of the student.

The Quatorial programme - four participants per group - is designed not only to help develop language accuracy but also to allow the participant to overcome inhibitions and to use the language eloquently in all situations, small, dynamic learning units for rapid progress.
Learners are exposed to a number of different training situations throughout the day. These mirror the real world and enable the practice of different skills.The different areas of Quatorial training which deliver effective results:
• controlled practice in language structures and lexis development with constant support and feedback to achieve a good command of grammatical structures, idioms, and vocabulary.
• drills to sharpen understanding of written text through reading a wide range of materials - reports, articles and studies.
• coaching and practice in letter, report, email, presentation and article-writing
• formal listening exercises
• The Quatorial Project - working on an engaging problem-solving task. Self-awareness is enhanced through the use of video playback, reflection on interpersonal interactions and overall project outcomes.
• Plenary Session - a News Review to practise formal presentation.
• Spoken Performance Workshop - fluency skills session to help the learner overcome inhibitions and communication anxieties.
• Individual attention - The Quatorial Programme includes one hour of Masterclass.
Participants can choose to replace this with 1 or 2 hours of Tutorial lessons with a private tutor.
